Inspired by the smooth perfection of a river stone, this simple paperweight (or door stopper) by Japanese designer Makoto Koizumi is pure poetry: it weighs down the material as it elevates the spirit. It is made of Nambu cast iron in the craft tradition that originated in 17th century Japan. Three tiny clear disks on the bottom provide surface protection.
