Introduce a touch of sculptural artistry to your library with Lorraine Grouvel's handcrafted stoneware bookends. The set features two arched forms in matte white, each a study in textural contrast.

Grouvel's distinctive "Pincée" technique adorns the outer surfaces - a rugged, pinched texture that evokes weathered cliffsides. This raw exterior plays against the smooth, curved inner faces, creating a compelling visual dialogue.

Minimalist yet expressive, these pieces command attention whether cradling books or standing alone. Their organic silhouettes and handcrafted nuances bring a touch of the artist's studio to your shelf or tabletop, elevating the simple act of organizing books into a celebration of form and texture.

Grouvel, the Franco-Canadian ceramist behind Apollonie Céramique, began her journey with clay in 2014. Now based in Paris, she crafts stoneware and porcelain creations that embody a universe of sobering fragility and honest expression. Her work invites contemplation of the relationship between object and space, bringing a touch of Parisian atelier sensibility to each piece. We are the only stockist of these lyrical pieces in the US. See our entire collection here

These carefully chosen and crafted pieces represent a considered mix of the esoteric and the highly pragmatic. Many of these simple things reflect the hand of the artisan or the quiet genius of the inventor. They are useful in ways that are difficult to quantify but, if pressed, we would say they make life a little more efficient and a lot more beautiful.
