Apollonie Céramique Pincée Containers
In her Paris studio, Lorraine Grouvel's Apollonie Céramique creates vessels that blur the line between functional craft and sculptural poetry. These porcelain and sandstone containers, with their distinctive pinched textures and crowned silhouettes, echo the architectural vernacular of fairy tales while grounding themselves in contemporary art.
Each vessel reveals Grouvel's pincée technique - precise pinches in the clay that build texture across the surface. The unglazed exterior, in matte bone-white, preserves these deliberate marks, creating a surface that responds to changing light throughout the day. The pieces take their shape from traditional French architecture, with their characteristic spherical finials, but remain scaled for practical use, whether displayed or incorporated into daily life.
Grouvel, who transitioned from Franco-Canadian roots to the vibrant Paris arts scene in 2014, infuses each piece with a delicate tension between sobering fragility and honest expression. We're honored to be the exclusive U.S. stockist of her work. See our entire collection here.
