Coastline Ceramics Desk Set

$120.00

Two pieces that earn their place on a desk — or a kitchen counter, or a windowsill. The cup, wheel-thrown from speckled stoneware and marked with a pressed terracotta disk, holds pens, brushes, or scissors with the quiet authority of something made entirely by hand. The catchall, carved in a faceted form and lined in matte white glaze, is equally suited to paper clips, rings, or the small objects that collect at the edges of a day.

Both pieces come from Lisa Fontaine's garage studio in the Berkeley Hills, where she works in wheel-thrown and hand-built forms shaped by the coastal landscapes of California.

These carefully chosen and crafted pieces represent a considered mix of the esoteric and the highly pragmatic. Many of these simple things reflect the hand of the artisan or the quiet genius of the inventor. They are useful in ways that are difficult to quantify but, if pressed, we would say they make life a little more efficient and a lot more beautiful.

We would be great together -
