Traditional Japanese Tear-off Calendar 2027 : 3 Sizes

One bold numeral to a page: this tear-off calendar runs its week in color, weekdays in black, Saturdays in blue, Sundays in red, the way Japanese wayfinding colors time. The Traditional Japanese Tear-off Calendar is a fixture of Japanese offices and homes, ordinary enough there to go unseen, and on a desk or a kitchen wall anywhere else it holds the eye. It is Super Normal in Jasper Morrison's sense: the ordinary object made exactly right.

The paper is Junpakushi washi, translucent enough that a second numeral ghosts faintly through in certain light. Lunar phases and zodiac markers run the margins. On Medium and Large the space at the bottom of each page is marked for memos. On the Extra Large that space is an open, unlabeled field of white beneath the numeral: for notes, or for nothing. 

Medium, also called the No. 9, sits on a desk or counter as a pad or hangs on a wall. Large, the No. 10, is a wall calendar with numerals readable from across a room. Extra Large is monumental: a single page that anchors a wall.
