Claesson Koivisto Rune: Architecture/Design (Signed, Original Edition)

This signed, out-of-print monograph makes a gift for an architect or designer that few shelves will hold: two white cloth hardcovers in a clear sleeve, architecture in one volume and design in the other, both devoted to Claesson Koivisto Rune, the Stockholm studio that treats the two as a single practice.

Inside, the architecture volume moves from private houses of wood and glass at the water's edge, through pale interiors and hospitality spaces, to the Sfera Building culture house in Kyoto, with architectural models and drawings along the way. The design volume gathers furniture and objects made with more than thirty international manufacturers. Every photograph was taken for the book, and Paola Antonelli of the Museum of Modern Art contributes an introduction. Each volume carries its own line on the spine: "Innovative but not disruptive" for architecture, "A trio in a world of solo" for design.

Claesson Koivisto Rune was founded in Stockholm in 1995 by Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune, and in 2004 became the first Swedish office invited to the international section of the Venice Architecture Biennale. Its Scandinavian Design lineage runs through Aalto and Jacobsen, and its refined furniture and lighting has won the Red Dot Best of the Best and the Bruno Mathsson Award. We are the only US stockist.

The beautifully minimalist book design is by Henrik Nygren, the Stockholm graphic designer behind the Moderna Museet identity. He founded Henrik Nygren Design in 1991, studied under Paul Rand and Armin Hofmann, and has been a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale since 2014.
