CW&T M.R. Tape Dispenser
Rethinking the humble tape dispenser through pure geometric form. This minimal stainless steel design turns the functional into the sculptural, whether mounted on your wall as an architectural accent or perched on your desk as a conversation piece.
At its core, the M.R. is an exercise in tension and physics. A single piece of precision-machined stainless steel creates the perfect angle for dispensing tape through elegant engineering. The mirror-polished contact surface ensures clean, precise tears while maintaining the dispenser's streamlined aesthetic.
A note on use: When securely mounted to your wall or desk, the M.R. provides stable, one-handed operation. If using it unmounted on your desk, you'll need both hands - one to hold the dispenser while the other tears the tape.
The M.R. performs best with paper-based tapes like washi and masking tape, where the tension system creates a perfect dispensing interaction. While Scotch tape will work when wall-mounted, its lighter adhesive doesn't provide enough grip for desk use. Heavier tapes like duct or gaffer's tape aren't recommended, though experimentalists are welcome to explore.

Founded by Che-Wei Wang and Taylor Levy, CW&T is a Brooklyn-based design studio operating at the intersection of sculpture and utility. Their practice interrogates everyday objects through an artistic lens, stripping away complexity to reveal essential forms. Each piece is manufactured in small batches with meticulous attention to detail, embodying their commitment to objects that exist as both functional tools and contemplative works.
