Grandmont St Ceramic Candle Holders
Stoneware candle holders that hold their ground as sculptural objects. Matte black, wheel-thrown, each one carrying the textural evidence of Julia Finlayson's hand and the kiln's particular mood. A solitary holder commands attention as sculpture; several together create a landscape of shifting heights and shadows.
Each holder carries its own history in the making—a record of the kiln's temperature, the moment the glaze settled into its particular pattern of matte darkness. Thrown on the wheel at Grandmont Street, these stoneware forms wear their textural glazes like layers of accumulated shadow, each surface mapping its own narrative of heat and time.
The designs speak a sculptural language: elegant without ornament, streamlined yet warm with the evidence of touch. Meant to be collected slowly, mixed deliberately, or displayed as singular statements.
