Vincent Van Duysen Black Ash Catchall

A black ash catchall tray, low and softly cornered, that works wherever small things collect: a home office desk with scissors, washi tape, and pencils, a bathroom shelf, a bedside table. Vincent Van Duysen designed it as a bread server for his Passe-Partout collection for Serax, and the form is versatile enough for any room. It is made of solid ash wood, carbonized to a deep black and finished with a matte oil that leaves the grain visible.

Vincent Van Duysen's influential minimalism emerged in the 1990s, reshaping our understanding of living spaces and objects through a distinctly Belgian lens. Rather than pursue novelty, Van Duysen seeks timelessness, stripping away the extraneous to reveal an object's essential nature. Through this restraint, even the simplest daily acts become opportunities for experiencing beauty.
